Cultural Activities, Events and Visits

We host and gather for regular cultural activities, events and visits as part of our community programme.
In 2024 we hosted a Saatchi Gallery Learning residency and a Chinese calligraphy workshop with Carry Hornby. We also continued our annual partnership as a venue in Peckham and Nunhead Free Film Festival and organised regular visits to the Young Vic as part of their Taking Part programme.
We also curated Copleston Pride with our church colleagues and Saatchi Gallery Learning to produce a programme of: an inclusive Christian Pride service, tea and cake, drag life-drawing, an art exhibition, and a local record label Dimple Discs gig with The PGs and Nick Haeffner.
Dimple Discs also curated some fine other gigs during the year.
In 2023 we hosted the Places in Peckham art exhibition with artist, Florence Goodhand-Tait and a talk as part of Leah Clements 'Insomnia' exhibition at South Kiosk Gallery.
We also worked with our Church colleagues on Peace Offerings - an event for prayer, contemplation and reflection responding to events in the Middle-East. Together we produced a day that included an all-faiths inclusive Church service for peace, a shared community cafe conversation breakfast, a silent mediatation for peace, author readings from The Keys to Kindness and Peace Talks, a Buddhist Loving Kindness Meditation.
In 2022 we ran Copleston Remix, a weekend festival of cultural activities and events, and included the installation of poet, writer and critic, Momtaza Mehri's work 'Towards a Quantifiable Measure of Longing', thanks to a collaboration with Bold Tendencies; and a gig with Tara-Lily. We also worked with artists Rachel Barbaresi, Junie James and Suzannah Round as part of the Home in Mind exhibition at Safe House, Peckham and with students from Camberwell, University of the Arts London on the theme of home. We also hosted a Jubilee tea.
We have also hosted poplular talks on local wildlife with Penny Metal and Simon Saville.
